Kayo Gorden is a queer Japanese-American filmmaker living in Brooklyn, NY. She grew up in the Bay Area, CA, and has a BA in cinema from San Francisco State University. She recently completed her MFA in Directing at Brooklyn College.
She has two short films in post-production. Self-Care is about a lesbian hiding a secret in her apartment and Sinking Sun is about a Japanese woman dealing with the death of her mother. Her films focus on the manifestation of identity and the psyche in women’s bodies and their homes.
